It was a pleasure to recently visit NewCo Communications in Casablanca and understand all the great work being done to deliver the best customer experience for our customers in France and Germany. Very proud of the Data Science and analytics team at Lebara who scooped the award for transformation with data at the DataIQ awards tonight. This is testimony to the great progress made in the last 2 years under the Leadership of Matt Crawley and the fabulous contribution of all his team. Big thanks also to Jonathan Sinclair who coordinated our award winning submission. This Sunday I am attempting the GNR again. At 55, there have been times recently where I thought about packing it in as the training has been harder than ever. But something keeps bringing me back and that something is fundraising for Cancer research.I became the 1 in 2 statistic when I got diagnosed with colon cancer nearly 2 yrs ago. Fortunately for me, I was diagnosed early, and the treatment I was offered by amazing doctors in High Wycombe was surgery. 5 weeks after surgery I was back running 5k and was given the all clear. My sister also beat cancer in 2012, thanks in large part to early diagnosis. Unfortunately both my parents died of cancer in 2020 so I have also seen the grief and pain that cancer brings. Sunday will be my 9th time doing the GNR and I’ll keep doing it as long as I can. Cancer Research’s mission is simple. It is about getting us closer to a world where no life is cut short by cancer. After a short time away from the Telecoms industry I am really excited to announce that I have joined Lebara in the role of Group Chief Commercial Officer. Stephen Shurrock my old colleague from O2 contacted me in August to see if I would help him out with a few challenges at Lebara Initially I agreed to join on an interim basis but within a very short period i realised the opportunity was an exciting one and I was delighted to accept the offer to join full time. There are 3 keys reasons why I joined the business- Fun - The strategy is exciting and I have no doubt I can have a lot of fun delivering it. - Continue to Learn - Despite 25 years of industry experience, the role gives me a great opportunity to continue to learn particularly across data science & analytics, brand licensing and digital transformation. - People & Culture - having been here 6 months, the folks at Lebara are a good bunch! Very focused shareholders, a strong leadership team and talented people right across the business, who all have a key role to play in delivering the strategy. Lebara have been very flexible with me over the last few months which I really appreciated. I am keen to pay them back and get stuck into the next chapter.
