Part I, a scarce and collectable book on ferox trout and Arctic charr, was originally published in 1940. Its author died in 1942 and Part II never saw the light of day. Indeed, it was believed that he had never completed the second part. Now, thanks to the literary detective work of Professor Peter S. Maitland and Professor Colin E. Adams of the University of Glasgow, the 'lost' manuscript of Part II of R.P. Hardie's Ferox and Char (1940) has come to light. Coch-y-Bonddu Books are pleased to offer Parts I and II of Ferox and Char in the Lochs of Scotland together in one high-quality collector's edition. Anglers, fishing historians and fisheries scientists alike will beable to finally study the completed work of Hardie's life-long and happy obsession with the relationship of Ferox Trout and Arctic Char in the lochsof Scotland. Two volumes - both in dust-wrappers and together in one slip-case. .

Hardcover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed in black ink on the title page by Hatakeyama. Hardcover. Photographically illustrated paper-covered boards with title in white on cover and in black on spine, no dust jacket as issued. Photographs by Naoya Hatakeyama. Introduction in (in English and German) by Andreas Brüning. 76 pp., with 49 four-color plates beautifully printed on fine matte art paper. 11-1/4 x 13-1/4 inches. This first edition is limited to 2000 copies. New in publisher's shrink-wrap (slit open for signature). From the publisher: "Documentary evidence exists of 700 years of coal mining in the Ruhr District of Germany, one of Europe's largest and most densely populated industrial regions. To this day, approximately 9.6 billion tons of hard coal have been mined in the state of North-Rhine-Westphalia. On June 30, 2000, almost 100 years of mining history came to an end in Ahlen with the closure of the Zeche Westfahlen, which had been opened in 1902 with the inauguration of the Bergwerkgesellschaft Westfahlen. The socio-economic impact of this closure has been enormous, and its ramifications continue to reverberate. Japanese artist Naoya Hatakeyama was commissioned by 'Regionale 2004' to photograph in Ahlen from October 2003 until February the following year, documenting the sites and structures that were home to tens of thousands of workers for over a century. The resulting photographs provide a valuable record of this once all-important industrial area, culminating in the demolition and razing of the entire site. Visiting today, one would never know what had stood in the vast, now empty space." Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condition: New. 3rd Edition. BRAND NEW 3RD EDITION. Two Huge Volumes. 9.25" x 12.25". 2022, 840 pages, more than double the size of the previous edition. Pictorial hardcovers published without dust jackets. 2,790 color and black & white photographs and illustrations. Large sharp, detailed color photographs of the guns that clearly show the markings on the guns. SIGNED THE THE AUTHOR. FN Browning Pistols: Side-Arms That Shaped World History reflects the continued work of Anthony Vanderlinden on classic FN Browning center-fire pistols. Vanderlinden has spent more than 30 years researching FN history and products. He has authored several books and articles on FN firearms and FN factory history. This book encompasses his early works The Belgian Browning Pistols. This is a revised and much expanded edition of FN Browning Pistols (2009, 2013). Attention was spent on addressing common misconceptions and detailing factory production processes and historical happenings. During research, Vanderlinden took into consideration the many FN departments and manufacturing lines, as well as various historical details that influenced production. This multi-faceted approach has been essential for the discovery of more complex and forgotten facts. This work includes details on wartime manufacturing, many which have never been published in English. The book covers the classic lines of FN Browning pistols sold by FN including the FN Browning Model 1899, 1900, 1903, 1905 (06), 1910, Grand Browning, 1922, High Efficiency, Baby Browning, High Power, and 100-series of pistols. Almost every chapter of the book has had a major expansion. A Truly outstanding set of books, and possibly the greatest accomplishment of Anthony Vanderlinden and Wet Dog Publications. The packaged weight of these two large volumes is about 14 pounds. Shipping cost via insured media mail is $18. Signed by Author.

NUEVO / NEU / NEW.
